Mechanic Monday Tip of the week.... Radiator hoses part 2
Last week we shared a tip to remove a radiator hose you want to reuse.
This weeks tip is how to remove an old rock hard radiator hose whose next trip is in the air on the way to the trash can.
A word of caution this weeks tip will require you to be skillful with a sharp object. We do not want to scratch the spigot with our tools or cut ourselves either of which can cause a leak or worse.
Before we start be sure the engine is cold and all the radiator fluid has been drained.
With a bit of duct tape on a small flat blade screw driver gently push it into the end of the radiator hose a tiny amount even 1/4 of an inch is plenty. This provides a tiny gap you can use a razor tool to start a slit. Slowly and gently so as not to damage the spigot push the screw driver in tiny amounts as you increase the length of the slit with the razor tool. By the time you get to the end of the spigot the hose should easily come off.

Stay greasy my friends
