Dear OTHG Members,
Earlier today I received a phone call from our current President Phil Miller. As many of you know, Phil suffered a dislocated thumb at the 2014 Tulare National. Recently Phil re-aggravated that injury. Due to his inability to race with the OTHG he felt it was in the clubs best interest for him to steep down as President.
Phil, has been a valued member of the OTHG and has made numerous friends throughout all 5 chapters. His dedication to the club was evident and will be missed. Per the By-laws I will be assuming the Presidency for the remainder of 2015. On behalf of the OTHG I would like to wish Phil a speedy recovery and an even quicker return to racing with the OTHG. I would like to extend an OTHG 2016 membership to Phil, so that he may come back after he has healed up 100%.
At this time the entire 2015 OTHG Board has been notified. We will continue to work hard and move in a positive direction. We are united and our focus now is the same as it was the day we were elected. Increasing membership, introduce new technology, host great races on fun tracks and have fun while doing it! We are off to a great start and the 2015 board is gearing up for an amazing year. I look forward to proudly serving as your 2015 OTHG President and look forward to seeing each and every one of you at the upcoming races.
Respectfully
James Van Duinwyk
Wow, sorry to hear Phil will not be finishing the season with us. Hope you heal quickly and return to racing soon.
The 2015 board is doing an exceptional job this year. With this in mind we need to keep this great thing rolling.
Per our bylaws, the Vice President will take over the presidency until elections can be held at the next club meeting.
I would like to nominate James Van Duinwyk as President of the club.
I would also like to nominate John Lombardo to Vice President as he has a couple terms in this position.

I second that.
Heal up Phil, what's important is your health over anything else.
dang who'd of think it? 😮
Wow, sorry to hear that Phil heal up soon and get back out there. The 2015 board looks very strong, and I would second John Lombardo for VP ( that is unless I could run LOL). Guys keep up the good work and good things will happen.
Hope to see all of you guys soon.

Both Gary and Mike are correct in their post.
Gary, is correct in saying that no nominations can be made on the forum. Per our By-Laws here is the wording:
“Nominees for office must either be present when nominated or have agreed to serve in writing.”
Mike is correct in his posting of the By-Laws requiring that vacancies be filled at the first meeting after the vacancy. That meeting will be March 11, 2015.
Based on past practice of the OTHG South chapter the current VP will assume the Presidents position. Here is the wording taken directly from our by-laws:
“VICE PRESIDENT: Shall perform the duties of the President in his/her absence”
When Art stepped down as president, then VP Phil Miller assumed his duties. It went unchallenged; therefore a precedent has been established.
Something else to consider is who is the most logical board member for that position? That would be the VP, as has been done in the past.
The vacancy to be filled should be the position of VP, which is open to any member in good standing. If John Lombardo is nominated and should be elected VP that will in turn create a vacancy in the treasure’s position. Think about who you would like to handle those duties.
As far as a time and place for nominations, the board is working to make sure this is handle in an appropriate manner, and is in the best interest of the club.
I would personally hate to see this event detract from what we have established and the momentum we are building. We will get through this, and when we do it’s full throttle!
As a board member for 2015, I ask each member of this great club, please take the time to consider this and do what you feel is best for the OTHG. Thank you.
Rich
If John Lombardo will accept the VP position, I would like to nominate Ben Paris for the treasurer. He has done a great job at this position in the past as well as John in the VP position. On top of that both of these guys are a BIG help on race day. This would make a seamless transition and keep the club moving in the right direction. Keep up the good work boys you are doing an AWESOME job. 2015 will be a great year for OTHG.
Get well soon Phil I hope to see you out at the track.

get well Phil, hope to have you back soon! and way to go James with a great speech to help everybody understand with what's going on. who ever moves up will do a good job with the staff that is in place. good things are already happening so keep the ball rolling.
Phil,
Heal up and get back out with the gang.
🙂
Best of luck Phil

When we have had vacancies in the past, we would just split the duties up or someone would do both. But that was of course later in the year and nobody really wanted to run to fill in. This is early in the year and they might want someone to fill in.
James could do both and so could John if nobody was up to filling in. The current board should post their intentions of what will or will not be open so the membership would know the situation.
This is just a MX club, so some of you guys refrain from going all "Roberts Rules" on every detail. :-*
And sorry to hear an injury has taken Phil out. 🙁
And does this mean the forum is no longer on "life support?"
Phil, Thanks for all the time you have dedicated to this great club. Hope you have a speedy recovery and hope to see you back at the track soon.
