Here is the most current rulebook we could find. National Rulebook 12
And some changes for 2014:
Default New National Rules For 14
The National rules committee members from the five clubs submitted their rule changes/additions at the South National for the 2014 season. The new rules were voted on at the Valley National and will be in place for next year.
1. Blue backgrounds are no longer a National Championship color.
2. Standardized payback at the Nationals for Masters. $85 entry equals $65 payback(clubs no longer eating the cost of T's and dinners)
3. 60 class becomes 58 class permanently.
4. 58 master class for 14 season
So with these in mind, who are our Nationals Race Committee dudes for this year?
Also, we has been brought up that the interest and attendance can decline after each National as riders fall out of the points chase.
So I got to thinkin'... what if we had a progressive National points payout, what I mean by that is each National event would pay more points than the previous event.
Here is a preliminary example and could be tweak to fit the end result we are looking for. (premise of dropping a race)
Round 1 = 35....25
Round 2 = 40....30
Round 3 = 45....35
Round 4 = 50....40
Round 5 = 55....45
You would need to have a one drop National dealio if you think that would help with attendance (or not) Or spread the points out if you would not want a drop race.
I doubt the round 1 National would be a big fan of this, but they would need to look as the OTHG National Series as all of the chapters.
I you were not looking to drop a National, then you would need a progressive points payout for 1st place on down
1st round = 35
2nd Round = 38
3rd Round = 40
4th Round = 43
5th Round = 45
or something along those lines.
I like it. Thats a pretty big change, and you know how well that goes over... 😉 But why not try it? And just think, if you added them back into your club points it would be even more of an incentive to hit them all.

CT - just a discussion, looking at a few ways to keep the members hitting the OTHGA Inc. National series.
There was some talk about having a drop for the Nationals, with a progressive points scale that might be doable.........or not. 8)
And we have talked about points back for Nationals, but not easy to find a solution that works for both sides, also would need some chapters to change their demeanor a tad. ::)
"also would need some chapters to change their demeanor a tad." Its not as bad as you might think haha! The stronger you guys get, the better it is for all of us. The stronger we get the better it is for all of you. I can see it coming around for you guys already! Come for the friends, stay for the racing. OTHG rocks!
JP, I like too. It may take a while for folks to warm up to it but your idea certainly has potential to increase participation in the most fun race weekends I have ever experienced. Gents like you and Chris Talbot always looking for ways to attract others to the OTHG National events are what it is all about. I look forward to seeing more big gates and more smiling faces at the OTHG National happenings. Thank you.
Tommy
I would love to get a hall pass for this one. For all of you going have a great time and be safe. This is always one of the best Nationals of the year.

I think it is OK and normal for the other chapters..........................others not so much.
Do you have a list of National Committee members? Seems this is like some secret society of unknown persons and events.
For our chapter Duane Joice and Paige Marciel, VP and Prez. Im not sure about the other chapters. Im not on the board anymore, but I have to give my 2 cents anytime I can 8)

TP - just trying to see what would work for the OTHG and keep the riders attending all of the Nationals. Very common in race series to have the latter rounds pay more points.

I have no clue who our dudes are, seems this National Committee has "Carte blanche" on whatever they do, which is 180 degrees of what the OTHG is all about.
Most down here think they should be more transparent on ALL things they do. But, I think they like it the way it is.
Im sure your prez will let you know who your national committee members are. I dont think anything is hidden, it just sounds like its not reported at your meetings. At our club meetings the committee members get floor time to talk about whats going on and if need be, we take a vote on how the committee members should vote at the summit meetings. Did that make sense? Anyway, It would def help if all prez's got together on an email list or talked more often.

That would be fine if it happened that way. I have to get all the National type info stuff off your website or the CV chapter site. ::)
"Anyway, It would def help if all prez's got together on an email list or talked more often." True dat!
Settin' up the National Committee with some fresh ideas......could make for even a better OTHGA Inc. National Series.
We like "fresh" up here  But your'e not talking fresh as in, little colored squares to designate your skill level are you? 😮 Looking forward to hearing what you have come up with. Thank you for your live feed meetings, its fun to see the process work. The comment about us up here being worried gave me a chuckle. I think if we share ideas we can come up with an even better program than what we run now. As long as we do whats best for the 800+ OTHG members we cant go wrong. 8)
