Hello all,
OK I think I am getting close to pulling the trigger and getting a real race bike 😛 - Time to put the pumpkin back to where it belongs, the desert and dual sport rides. For those of you who don't know me yet, I am the fat guy running around the back of the beginners class on the KTM 530 with the headlight 😮
Any and input will be helpfull - I am looking to spend around $3,500.00.
Have my eye on a 08 yz 450 and kind of like the 09 kx's
What should I look for and stay away from

I'm new to all this MX stuff . . . but I picked up an '09 KX450F, and LOVE it. Lots of power (more than I need), and its responsive & light. The FI is AWESOME. I hate carbeurators.
I'm fat, too (6'0", 230lbs) . . . and I'm getting it re-sprung by Suspension by Jake (OTHG Sponsor). All 3 springs/valves/seals/fluid for $400 OTD. I would plan that $400 into your budget.

Here's another old, fat guy who loves his '09 KX450.
Maybe I should see if I can afford an '11 and sell you my '09.

Try and sit on some bike with a similar year that you are looking for. If you buy a bike that doesnt fit you right your gonna be spending a lot of money to get it right.. I'm a big honda fan and love the way the bike fits most all riders.. Give the honda a look and remember its the most reliable.

Anything but HONDA, just kidding 😛 I love my 2006 YAMAHA, last motor to have a "hit". If it's a HONDA, our esteemed treasurer has one for sale :'(

This is going to be a rough one for sure, This will be my first time purchasing a used bike for myself, I just can't justify another payment since I am still paying on my KTM. I test rode a 09 kx last night, it ran good and had lots of new parts on it (Chain, sprocket, plastics, tires, pegs, grips etc) but after a closer look the forks were chipped big time, had a few dents in the frame where he either came up short or caught rocks. Rims were chipped big time and the top end had been replaced. Kind of looked like it had been raced hard and polished well (lipstick on a pig). So to speak.
Don't hold anything back - I don't want to miss something

I got a 250F all setup for a 240 rider that may be for sale, depending on what the doctor says tomorrow. 🙁

Go with the 2009 KX great bike. I sold mine a few weeks ago only because I got a 2012 Kx 450. You will love the bike!!

Hey Jim,
I just go rid of my 06 Yamaha....I loved that bike and as you can see it could hual a big rear. Cant say anything about any other bike but that 06 was bulletproof.

Just buy a 2 stroke it will run forever . A 250 or a 300 done deal in your class. MIKE 399G.
