For his 11th overall finish in the over 60 class at the MTA Vet World Championship!

He got a "other notable" mention.  ðŸ™‚

Great job tommy. There were quite a few gang riders out there from the other chapters. David blosser finished 5th in the 50+ and I finished 2nd in 35+. Us gangs guys were represnting against riders from all over the world.

Thanks all for the props.  The only "notable" thing I did was to just show up and have some good visits with racing buddies from the past.  Now Blosser, on the other hand, was on the gas!  He and Kevin Ridgman looked really good in the 50+ class, which was the largest class of the day.  Eric was his usual fast and smooth self as well and we all did represent the 'G' guys well.  Some takeaways from me:
1. Since I was running my yellow OTHG plates Jack McCormick named my Honda the "Bingo Bike".  "G-47", "under the 'G', 47".
2. The track was similar to our National but a little more challenging with some real soft and tight sections in the back and before the finish.  Lap times were mostly in the 3-minute plus range (except for Dubach and Ryno) and some rough uphills had little or no run up to them after a tight turn at the bottom.  Lots of multi-bike pileups during the day as one guy would get squirrelly half way up and take others out on the way up.  Robert Ripley got caught in one of those on Saturday and it was a mess.  He didn't get hurt and it wasn't his fault, but it can ruin your day.
3. Hughes was gapping Dubach 2-3 seconds per lap after two holeshots in the 40+ Pro class on Sunday until his tire came off the rim after getting a flat late in the 2nd moto.  He rode up to the awards ceremony after the race where Dubach was getting his check from Tom White and looked like he expected some recognition.  He didn't get any, and then he couldn't get his bike started to ride back to the pits.  Sad ending to a day of dominant riding.
4. Jimmy Redwine from Texas is one fast 70+ dude.  He caught me from the second gate in both motos on Sunday and smoothly motored away.  Cool guy to.
5. Days were long and visbility quickly became a factor going into the setting sun up the hills during the second round of motos both days.  I saw some inventive visor additions with duct tape and cardboard used to help shield the glare.
6. I was ready for some partying Saturday night only to look around at about 10:00 pm and see everybody in bed with generators running.  I was missing my OTHG friends.
7. I wore my Joe Stern OTHG hat all weekend and had a number of guys talk to me regarding joining the club next year.  I of course told them of the great people in the Gang, the close friendships and fun we have at every race, and encouraged them to give the best Vet racing club a try.  I intend to follow up and I am sure some of them will come out in 2010.

See Y'all at the GP.
Tommy
