Some things just don't change.
From the 1970's to today, brand new bikes often come with the swing arm, linkage and steering head not properly lubed. The folks at the factory tend to put just enough lube on to assemble the bike.  My 2018 CRF had a fair amount of lube on the delta link but the swing arm, link levers and the steering head were lacking lube. So when is the best time to do the first lube? My opinion is before you ever ride it.
1st the bike is super clean and your not likely to drop bits of dirt into delicate bearings.
2nd it lets you set up a reasonable schedule for the next lube. Follow the owners manual for a lube schedule. I try to be very careful when using a power washer and usually make the next lube schedule with no loss of lubrication. If you love to power wash with abandon, you may want to cut in half the time on the schedule.

Stay greasy my friends.
