We had some great racing at California city and I was able to be fortunate enough to announce some of the racing along with Michael Carpenter, Richard Hurtado and
Mike Maciel.Seemed like every one of my Moto's was a battle between Blake Steelgrave and John Lombardo posting the same lap times of 2 min. or or in another Moto that times of 1.55 and 1.56. It's too bad the  points earned don't count towards your yearly points as they were always within a second of each other in the 52 expert class.
They battled throughout the beautiful weekend at Cal city.
John and Injay went out of their way to host the event the fourth round of the South chapters national.
Some of the moto's I had the good fortune to watch  were of 45 novice class winner Scott Leon 417V coming from behind to win all 4 Moto's and finishing up with a consistent best 2.07  lap time .Scott will be announcing at the DT1 national coming up on November 10th and 11th – 2018. Kim Kinslow 14G got the holeshot , 4 out of 4 times .
Nick Mcbride 314V posted a 1:50 lap time.
Randy law #45S a 58 master posted a 1:55 lap time.
52G Mike Maciel of the 52 intermediates posted a 2.07 lap time ,winning his class.
129S Nathan Fanelli posted at 2.03 lap time in the 30 novices.
860 B Chuck Wallace posted at 2.18 lap time in the 58 novice class.
There was a close freight train of riders during the 30–38 intermediates with 689B Chris Wallace, 833G Jesse Heninger, 853G Michael Haisten, 173V Mikey Wilson and now recovering racer Mike Carpenter # 772G. They were always within seconds of each other and it was really anyone's race during Moto 1. Heninger, Haisten and Carpenter followed over the step down tabletop and then over the big double where Carpenter bounced up when he landed short and his rear tire swapped around and he was slapped to the ground.
On each of the sleeves of the national shirts were riders that passed away during the year.  #117 Joe Cook on the right sleeve and #334G Kurt Schrader on the left sleeve. The main and big grand prize at the raffle was a boom motorcycle. As fate would have it... Kurt Schrader's good friend won the motorcycle! Isn't that something! All in all, a great weekend!

A mention of and about Kevin Tait-158G will be made at the DT1 national.
He passed away in 2018.

Kevin's wife Ronnie said:
            "Kevin loved racing motocross.
From when he was a kid , that's how he spent his time, until he got sick. "

He was super fast at DT!!
