Mechanic Monday Tip of the Week. Back to basics part 1

Have you been in the same career for a long time?
Since it is easy to forget the early days of a job it is also easy to think that everyone knows those basic aspects of our jobs.
With that thought in mind this next series of tips will be those elementary items and the series called "Back to basics."
Simple items that many folks will already know but they are good practices that may help those that haven't had the chance to learn yet.

So here is our first back to basic tip. When assembling anything with bolts or screws, "If possible" install all of the hardware first with only a couple of threads engaged and before you tighten anything ensure any gaskets are properly aligned, the part is positioned properly and will not be unevenly loaded when the hardware is tightened. If the part you are installing has any shape be it a convex or concave radius (like a rear fender) start the tightening process by tightening the deepest part of the radius first.

Stay greasy my friends
