Mechanic Monday, Tip of the Week. Dirt and teleportation.
Do you remember on the TV show Star Trek when Scotty would beam Kirk down to the planet? It was like a miracle. One second they are on the ship then like magic they where on the planet.
The same thing happens to your gas tank. No matter how careful you are after a few months there is dirt in the bottom of your fuel tank. It is if Scotty had beamed the dirt there as a prank on you and me.
This weeks tip is when you have your gas tank off and you have an extra minute dump all your old gas out and flush out the dirt. This should help to keep it out of you injection system or carb.
Be sure to follow all the safety instructions in your service manual as gasoline is the most dangerous liquid most people will deal with.
Since even static electricity from your touch can cause a fire. Be safe with this task.
Stay greasy my friends
