Mechanic Monday… Tip of the week
The lower shock bearing which is typically a needle roller bearing. Will usually require greasing twice as often as the rest of the linkage and swing arm bearings. So if your linkage lube schedule is 30 rides then this bearing on most bikes will need grease every 15 rides. The beauty of it is how quickly it is to access this bearing. Less then 3 minutes on most bikes. With a bike on a secure stand and the rear wheel set so it will not drop when the bolts are removed. Simply remove the lower shock bolt and any other bolt on the triangle link (often called a delta link) This will allow you easy access to clean and grease the lower shock bearing as seen in this pic.
