Mechanic Monday Tip of the week…. oil changes
One way your engine will talk to you is in the bottom of your oil drain pan. It is common to see a few tiny flakes of aluminum or some short tiny hairs of metal that are attracted to a magnet. A few brands of MX bikes (not all brands) use a bronze colored thrust washer on each side of the lower connecting rod bearing. If you see any of this bronze colored metal do not ride that bike until the crankshaft has been repaired, If you see pieces of metal the size of a grain of rice or larger it is time to have that looked at and If you see chuncks of metal that have part numbers on them that you can read it just might be a sign you need some work done. 😉 So this weeks tip is to always have a clean oil drain pan so you can clearly see what is in your drained oil.
Stay greasy my friends
Well said Dave, man I hope that is not out of your bike....ouch!
