WTHeck is with the "no farming" rule. I was forced to move from my gate pick because a friend who thought he was helping "farmed" in front of my gate. It's one thing to have a rule, which I am totally OK with, but if it's a rule, PLEASE make sure everyone knows about it. I don't see it in the rules. If I missed it, I'm sorry.
Antone, my question would be, is this your 1st National? The reason I ask, this is my 1st year of doing more than just the South National. At the Sierra, Reno and Bay Nationals we were not aloud to farm. As the OTHG is trying to keep all the chapters aligned, it would only make sense that there would be no farming at the South National and the Valley National.
The farmers of the Central Valley are the backbone of our state's economy. The "no farming" rule must be repealed ASAP.
I've made 11 Nationals in the last 3 years and never heard anyone mention "farming" until the last Bay National at Hollister. I happened to be on the other side of the gate and was about start Farming when I was educated on the term.

Arch,
Before this year I had only done one National (the South). This year I have hit 4 of the 5 so far.
1. I was not allowed to farm at the Sierra National
2. I was not allowed to farm at the Reno National
3. I was not allowed to farm at the Bay National
4. I'm a little slow, but I figured it by the South National, no farming at the Nationals!
5. I will not farm at the Valley Nationals just to avoid a DQ!
This is something the National Committee needs to get together on.
Should an easy fix. 😉

I don't think anyone should be DQed for something that is not in the bylaws or only known to the inner circle.
Motocrossers have been "packing the gate" since the start of racing......and it helps by being able to get a nice clean start.
Seems like a rule that is not necessary.....wait it is not a rule correct?
We should make a rule that if Jim Pierce comes back and races with us you can farm whatever you want? 🙂

And a red carpet up to the concrete starting gate. lol...why not.I get extra carpets from jobs.No problem,if that's what it takes.
We'll be racing again.

When did this "no farming" start? I've done this at every national previous years and not one person said a thing. If its not in the bylaws its not a rule therefore it can not be used unless EVERYONE is ok with that rule. Then you must place it in the National bylaws.
So funny. I usually don't even sweep my gate or prep behind it on dirt starts. This is OTHG not pro racing. If somebody wants to do some farming I say let him. I also agree that if the rules do not say anything about it you cannot asses a penalty.

Not a rule, It's up to the promoter.

So every National track would not let you pack your gate? Hard to believe that to be true.
The South chapter is the promoter of the South National and we have never done that before. Perplexing.
