Lots of fun !
S.R.A are the only G.P. I raced at Glen Helen they used both tracks (main-REM) and had a section that linked them. The last time I went they sent you out towards the Sherriff's compound 45 minutes fun!
Case IT
Just one question for the glen Helen GP,theirs only going to be one 45 minute moto on sunday.
Grand Prix's are as a rule one 45 minute race.
JP, I have never raced a GP. What can you tell me about it. How can you inspire me to try it. I am not sure what I will miss out on if I choose not to attend. Do they run most of the MX track and then off in the boonies?? If someone could provide a detailed description on the track layout I would appreciate it.
Well, the track layout would be both the REM track and the Main track with some other added sections. 8 to 10 min lap times would be average. You are on the track for 35 to 45 min.
No tight single track like the 24 hour in a GP. The parade lap is just that...a sighting lap, not practice.
We need all OTHG members to attend.......we have TWO races.

what do you mean two races?
When i used to the GPs there it was about a 4 mile track and yes using both main and rem track. To enter the rem track we use to go through the trees in budds creek then hop on a fire road that would take you on to the rem track. Not sure if they still do that but it made for a fun time. The faster classes averaged between 7 to 9 laps. Have fun guys i'll be sittin the next two races out. Hopefully i will be ready for star west.

He means, that the OTHG Beg/Nov go off at 10:45am and the OTHG Int/Exp go off at 2:40pm...each riding a single 45 min event. Too bad they couldn't have been back to back so the scoring girls wouldn't have to stick around all day.

Yep Eric that's exactly how I remember them. Left hand on helmet start, I never liked the dusty section that linked the two tracks. Carlsbad was fun they used the drag strip to link the new and old tracks. You'd have to readjust your thought process every time you re entered the dirt. Wide open tucked to hit the rut Etc.
Have fun all see you at Starwest.

Thanks Jeff.........when I say "We", it is always the collective OTHG MX Club.
I have to remember you guys are motocross racers. 😮
Isn't there some way we can get back to back races? Or why not all the gang in one races.. Its a G.P.,, do we expect a huge turn out for this race? I'm sure if we talk to jack we can work a better deal...... I use to race alot of G.P.'s and we'd have rows.. 1st row all pros and experts, 2nd row All Intermidates...3rd row all Novices. and 4th row were beginners... they have a scoring area where they slow you down so the score keepers can get the #'s... if we get a 100 riders the track can handle it,, and I'm sure the score keepers can too.... Let's try to have all of us out there racing so we all can hang out and go home and it still be an early day...
Carl - the "horse is out of the barn".
The schedule is out and will not be changed, we will "play the cards we are dealt".
Regarding Jeff Roehm's post about the 125's, let's do it. I'm in. Is it the 9:10 slot w/old timers or 11:35 125 two stroke?

I was thinking the 9:10 slot, but whatever everyone decides is good with me. I forgot 144Guy will be in Ridgecrest so lets find out what Larry and Franck is up for. Maybe Freeride will post soon too.
I am in regardless. Either with you guys or with Oldtimers. It's all good. But we should get those 125 out. They are some much fun to ride.... And very different than 450's. You end up ridding 2 completely different tracks on the same day. Really cool. Lines are different, jumps are different. Come On Let's Do it.
I will have some pictures from the National available of various riders. Make sure to stop by and see me if interested.
If there is one you would like to have/see printed please let me know and I will have it at the race.

hmmm.... i could probably be talked into it........... ;D i'd like to go with the old timers @9:10
