Only 2 stroke I have is a old 125. I  tried to race it once and did not enjoy or liked it. Not worth taking to a national.

I bought the pipe and just stuck it on. Not sure what you mean by cone tip. It has a end cap held on by three bolts. I just took out the spark arrestor.

The cone tip is like the one you see on the pro bikes. if your exhaust tip is short and has a large outlet then you don't have the cone tip/ end cap. What style of PC do you have?

Run your spark arrestor or atleast bring it. That will help drop the db slightly. Also, when you test make sure bike is warm and hold the clutch in while they work the throttle, that helps a little too.

Best case is to repack it. Most pipe manufaturers say to repack as low as 10 hours, some upwards of 30-40. I had a 06 CRF 450 and had a pro circuit pipe I hadnt repacked in awhile. It blew a 104. I put in the spark arrstor and a a copuple other little tricks and it blew a 97 when I went back to restest it.

I'm wanting to say a ti 4 GP complete system. Just talked to pro circuit, he said that the pipe was designed for 100 to 101 db. I would need to buy a insert to quite it down.Witch in turn will take power out of my bike. He also said my stock pipe is just as loud if not louder. So this is what I'm thinking of doing. Buy the insert, repack the pipe,go take the test,if pass sweet, if not put the insert in and try again.

Do they test as you race around the track? Do they test you every so often to make sure you keep in compliance?

They test you prior to your first practice, if you pass they give you a sticker on your front number plate. If you are in the top three or five? in your race they re test after your race.

Hollister is a must at some point. Go and you will have a great time, and you will be hooked on the Nationals.

  Good Luck

I went to the south national last year.  You are right it was super fun. Hoping to make it to 3 national this year. Since I can plan them better. The regular club races just has been hit and miss mostly miss. The sound testing is my concern.
